At a time when streaming services, podcasts, and digital content can simulate the church experience from a couch, it is worth asking: does it actually matter whether believers gather in person? The short answer, from both Scripture and a growing body of sociological research, is yes — significantly.
Hebrews 10:25 gives the direct command: "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another — and all the more as you see the Day approaching." The author of Hebrews does not say gathering is optional or circumstantial; it is framed as an act of mutual encouragement and eschatological faithfulness.
